Normally, only one Idol hopeful leaves the show each week. Except, the previous week, crooner Michael Lynche had the lowest number of votes, and should have been sent home. But after Michael gave a moving performance of Maxwell's version of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work", the judges used the one 'save' of the season and allowed Big Mike to stay. Since no one went home that week, the contestants with the two lowest number of votes, Katie and Andrew, had to go the following week.
